When the World Looks Dark
Everyone has had bad days. These are the days when it seems as if all of your problems are piling up one on top of another and they seem to be endless. In those times, however, you somehow know that you will find a way to dig yourself out because after all, these are problems only you have and with the help of God, you will find the solutions. You may have worked as a team before with success, but what about when it isn’t just you? What happens when the problems need the cooperation of a lot of people?
When Others Are in Charge
When the problems are yours, you come up with the solutions. You have the resources you need to solve your problems. You are the one who, with the help of God, can solve the problem. But what happens when others are in charge of the solution? The current pandemic is the perfect example of this scenario.
The current problem is global and it belongs to the world. Everyone has the same problem – avoiding getting or spreading the virus. You want to ensure you and your family are safe and you also want to ensure you keep others safe as well. If the scientists say a mask protects others, you wear one. If the scientists tell you to keep your distance, you do. You do this because as a good Christian, you follow the Golden Rule as stated in Matthew 7:12 - All that you wish men to do to you, even so do you also to them.
You don’t want the virus. No one does. That is why you follow the rules and encourage others to do the same.
At the same time you pray for the scientists; that God will give them the knowledge they need to come up with treatments and a vaccine. You include doctors, nurses, and all first responders in your prayers; these are the true Heroes who put their lives directly on the path of this plague. But they aren’t the only ones. Remember your grocery store clerks, pharmacy staff, mechanics, and everyone that is now able to work because without these people you would have no light in your life. You may not think of them as important because they can’t solve the medical problem, but imagine if they weren’t there. Where would you be?
Shine Your Light
People don’t realize they are appreciated unless you show them, tell them, or both. You must be the one that shines the light. You must be the example set for those around you. As in John, 4:21 He who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, for they have been performed by God.
